Jack Ma's African entrepreneurs prize to open for enrollment -- Alibaba founder Jack Ma officially launched a fund on February 18 with the aim of providing 10 million U.S. dollars to outstanding African entrepreneurs in the coming decade. The Africa Netrepreneur Prize will be awarded to 10 African entrepreneurs each year with a total funding of one million dollars, according to the Jack Ma Foundation. The first contest will be open for enrollment to all African citizens on March 27, and the final contest is expected to be held in Africa in November.
China's largest low-cost carrier to use Airbus Skywise data platform -- Spring Airlines, China's largest low-cost carrier, has signed an agreement with Airbus to put into use its Skywise Core platform in the airline's fleet, announced Airbus China on on February 18. According to the agreement, by using Skywise Core, Spring Airlines will integrate its operational, maintenance, and other aircraft data into the Skywise cloud and receive data-related services through it. The Shanghai-based Spring Airlines operates an all Airbus A320 fleet of more than 80 aircraft.
Chinese company delivers 100th 777 empennage tip to Boeing -- A Chinese aviation component manufacturer delivered the 100th 777 empennage tip to the Boeing Company on on February 18. AVIC SAC Commercial Aircraft Company (SACC), based in the northeast Chinese city of Shenyang, started delivering 777 empennage tips to Boeing on May 25, 2016 and is the only global provider of the component to the U.S. airplane manufacturer. The delivery of the 100th 777 empennage tip showed that the strategic cooperation between SACC and Boeing has achieved fruitful results, said an executive with SACC.
Huawei launches new round of "Seeds for the Future" project in Bangladesh -- Huawei, the world's leading ICT solutions provider, has launched a new round of its global flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) program "Seeds for the Future" to select 10 youngsters from Bangladeshi universities. The program was launched on February 17 at a press conference. "Seeds for the Future" is designed to cultivate more ICT Talents in Bangladesh and provide an opportunity for the students to learn ICT Technologies, said the company. In the next two months, Huawei said it will select 10 promising students from five noted universities of Bangladesh.
China's CRRC sets up financial leasing arm for overseas services -- China's CRRC, the world's largest supplier of rail transit equipment, has recently opened its financial leasing subsidiary in a bid to expand its business overseas. The financial leasing firm in Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone in the northern Chinese municipality of Tianjin has a registered capital of 3 billion yuan (443 million U.S. dollars). As the first financial leasing firm established after the unveiling of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission last April, it was jointly founded by CRRC Corp. Ltd., its parent company CRRC Group, and Tianjin Trust Co., Ltd.
