BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Shaanxi province plans to invest 32.5 billion yuan in water conservancy projects in 2019, an investment up eight percent year on year, according to the province's Department of Water Resources.
With the investment, the province will treat water and soil erosion as well as rehabilitate ecology on 3,000 square kilometers of land, repair and renovate 1,500 ponds and reservoirs, construct 300 sediment storage dams, help 2.6 million rural residents have access to safe drinking water, and install 25,000 kilowatts of new small hydropower plants.
The province also plans to push forward water conservancy reform and prevent flood events. (Edited by Su Dan)
