China-U.S. partnership better facilitates Alpha's development in both markets

February 21, 2019

Abstract : Partnership between China and the United States is key to strengthening Alpha Group's competitiveness in the two markets.

NEW YORK, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Partnership between China and the United States is key to strengthening Alpha Group's competitiveness in the two markets.

With over two decades' development, Alpha Group has become one of the leading animation and toy companies in China.

The establishment of Alpha Group U.S. in 2016 is an effort of the conglomerate to fully develop the U.S. market.

"We have excellent operating and engineering teams with deep knowledge and rich experience in China, and we combine these with new ideas of marketing and design to exploit both markets," Glenn Yu, design director of Boys Brands with Alpha Group U.S., told Xinhua in an interview at the 2019 North American International Toy Fair held in New York City.

With solid background in business planning, personnel training, supply chain, and manufacturing, Alpha's diversification into the U.S. market has been relatively well-off.

The outcomes of cooperation between teams of the two countries are usually quite good. "Although we just entered the U.S. market two to three years ago, our operating revenue keeps growing...thanks to support from China and experience of the U.S. division," he said.

Alpha is one of the producers of Super Wings, a popular preschool animated TV show jointly developed by companies from Republic of Korea, China, and the United States.

Josh Selig, president of New York-based preschool content supplier Little Airplane Productions, the U.S. co-producer of Super Wings, told Xinhua that his company has had a great success partnering with Chinese companies in making global quality shows.

"China obviously is expert in the areas of design and animation... (while) we're very good with storytelling and creating IP. So I believe there is a natural synergy between Chinese and U.S. creators working together on global IP." he said.

He believes that Chinese and U.S. companies need more healthy partnerships where both sides are making contributions. "It's a win-win if we work together, and if we separate, both sides lose," he added. (Contributed by Luo Jingjing, edited by Niu Huizhe)
