BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The industry of plate glass realized stable growth in 2018, with the total output of 870 million weight cases, up 2.1 percent year on year, according to the statistics released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on February 20.
Data showed that, despite a downward price and a slower production increase, the plate glass reported a growth of 29.1 percent to 11.6 billion yuan in total profit. The main business income reached 76 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2 percent year on year.
Driving by the demands of new real estate projects and energy-saving renovation of existing buildings, and meanwhile facing the challenge of excess production capacity, the industry is expected to achieve steady growth in 2019. (Edited by Tong Wei, tongwei@xinhua.org)
