BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Monthly container throughput hit a record-high of 2.598 million standard containers, at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province in January of 2019, according to the port's operator.
As of January of 2019, the port's monthly cargo throughput registered at 93.077 million tons (tonnes), up 3.1 percent year on year, official data showed.
Strong growth has also been posted in the port's sea-rail transport services, which link the port by railway with other parts of China. The port handled 70,000 standard containers in January 2018, a year-on-year increase nearly 50 percent.
Ningbo Zhoushan Port, which lies at the meeting point of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, is the busiest port in China. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
