BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Shenzhen, a city of South China Guangdong Province, plans to invest nearly 50 billion yuan in water pollution control in 2019, reported China Securities Journal Tuesday.
According to the Work Program on Water Pollution Control released by Shenzhen’s Water Affairs Bureau, Shenzhen will formulate a handbook for polluted water to be controlled and ensure all rectification projects to be started before the end of March, complete all the main projects and put them into use before the end of November, and make 159 black and odorous water bodies and 1,467 small ones clean before the end of December this year.
Moreover, Shenzhen will speed up the construction and update of water system. By the end of 2019, Shenzhen will construct new water pipes of more than 200 kilometers, repair and reconstruct existing water pipes of over 800 kilometers.
By 2020, the city will accumulate nearly 120 billion yuan in water pollution control investment. (Edited by Tong Wei, tongwei@xinhua.org)
