BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Jilin, Hainan, Sichuan, Heilongjiang among other Chinese provinces are eyeing on space economy with efforts to make it a new growth engine.
For example, Northeast China's Jilin province vows to promote the Jilin-1 satellite constellation network this year. It will also participate in construction of national low-orbit Internet constellation and other major projects, develop strategic emerging industries such as satellite and aerospace information, and make progress in space exploration projects, according to Jing Junhai, Governor of Jilin.
The implementation of such projects is propelling the rapid rise of Jilin's aerospace industry. For instance, the province is projected to build a network of 138 satellites by the end of 2030 based on its aerospace information industry park which has the ability to produce 30 satellites and 200 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) annually.
Likewise, South China's Hainan province will push forward the compilation and implementation of relevant plans for Wenchang space city, and accelerate construction of space technology innovation bases.
Southwest China's Sichuan province mulls to establish national innovation demonstration zone of civil-military integration, and cultivate ten industrial clusters for space, satellite application and other competitive industries, while Northeast China's Heilongjiang province plans to promote the industrialization of industries such as Beidou navigation and remote sensing as well as surveying and mapping geographic information.
