NEW YORK, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Four leading Hong Kong designers unveiled their latest collections at a group runway show last Friday during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) February 2019, in efforts to promote Hong Kong's fashion creativity and industry elites to across the world.
Featuring the show were three Hong Kong-based fashion brands, i.e. ANVEGLOSA founded by Annette Chan in 2007, and HEAVEN PLEASE+, co-founded by Yi Chan and Lary Cheung in 2011, and 112 mountianyam set up by Mountain Yam in 2015, which all focus on enriching women's fashion tastes and choices.
Mountain Yam told Xinhua that he wanted to help urbanites with a hectic living tempo find an outlet for their mental stress through his new collection titled Hide & Seek.
The inspiration came from his travel to Tanzania to see wild animals, as the designer likes exploring contrasting elements, such as the nature and future buildings.
"In human society, people tend to hide in their comfort zone when facing problems, most of the people run away or find excuses, Yam said. "But they need to express their real thoughts and true self. Don't hide away."
Unlike the young designer, Annette Chan paid her respect to the tradition and heritage of the fashion industry through her latest collection themed Salute to Fashion, which was inspired by the good old days of the fashion industry.
Featuring three main colors, black, white and green, the collection features a combination of lambskin leather, silk, fabrics and embroidery to highlight feminine silhouettes, which is also a review of the fashion quintessence from the 1920s to the present day.
"Nowadays people like everything fast and often neglect the details and essence happening around us," Chan told Xinhua. "We hope people can cherish more."
Completing the lineup of the show is the collection of "ELIZABETH, WATCH THE STARS," which incorporated the visuals of eyes, moon and stars to create a style mixed with traditional and futuristic aesthetics,Yi Chan told Xinhua.
Inspired by the Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I of England and French band Air's album Moon Safari, the new collection demonstrates its two designers' strength of integrating their understanding of art, music and literature into fashion design,as part of their efforts of empowering fashion with insightful values.
Fashion Hong Kong is a series of international promotion events organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and has been staged at a batch of international fashion weeks since 2015, including NYFW, Tokyo Fashion Week and London Fashion Week.
"New York Fashion Week is a great platform that can help promote Hong Kong's creative industry across the world and improve the image of Hong Kong designs," said Ralph Chow, regional director, Americas, HKTDC.
"The distinctive feature of Hong Kong designers lies in the fact that they are able to create their unique styles through the fusion of oriental and western cultures," Chow said. Enditem
