BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- China Unicom (600050.SH) recently have facilitated in a 5G-based smart wharf operation test in Qingdao, marking a step forward in the application of 5G network in smart port construction.
Based on 5G connection technology, the test realized wireless control and operation of automatic quayside cranes as well as grabbing and transportation of containers. The test was completed jointly by China Unicom, Ericsson, Port of Qingdao (601298.SH) and Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (600320.SH) at an automatic wharf of New Qianwan dock of Qingdao port.
The test also validated the application of 5G in smart wharf scenarios on the spot, and evaluated the feasibility of 5G deployment in smart wharves.
The test participants noted that they would work on more scenarios and more in-depth schemes for 5G application in intelligent wharf in the future. (Edited by Su Dan, Niu Huizhe)
