KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian national car manufacturer Proton delivered 1,000 units of their X70 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in one day, the company said on Saturday, as its first new model since teaming-up with China's Geely is gaining traction in the country.
In a statement, Proton said the milestone was made in conjunction with the Chinese New Year open house recently held at its 74 3S (sales, service and spare parts) and 4S (sales, service, spare parts and body/paint services) outlets nationwide on Feb. 2.
"During the event, customers who took delivery of the X70 were briefed about the Unique Selling Points that made the SUV special and were taught how to activate these features," the company said.
"A comprehensive presentation was delivered by the after sales manager at each outlet, who sought to provide a greater understanding of their vehicles so that owners are able to maximize their driving pleasure through the use of the special comfort, convenience and safety features provided by the SUV," the company added.
The X70 is the first joint product since Geely acquired 49.9 percent of Proton from Malaysia's leading conglomerate DRB-HICOM that owned 100 percent of Proton last year.
