BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) – South China's Hainan Province is planning to pilot some free trade port policies in tourism, modern services, high-tech industry and other areas in 2019 as part of its effort in free trade port construction, according to the province's government work report released on January 27.
The report said that Hainan will formulate and promote the early introduction of an overall plan regarding free trade port in 2019 by following the requirement of China's central authorities to build free trade ports with Chinese characteristics.
To achieve the goal, Hainan will establish and improve the statistical indicator system concerning free trade zone (FTZ) and port, leverage big data and artificial intelligence (AI) technology to achieve efficient information management and control in the free trade port, and make preparations in fields such as technology and human resources.
It is reported that steady progress has been made by the province in the FTZ construction since April 2018, such as the launch of the free trade accounts. So far, more than 2,800 FT accounts have been opened for nearly 1,000 enterprises in the province. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
