BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- China Minmetals Corporation (CMC), the country's metals and minerals conglomerate, recorded its highest ever revenue and profits in 2018, according to figures released recently at the company's annual work conference.
The company raked in 503.2 billion yuan (about 73.92 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue in 2018, up 16.5 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, its return on sales rate increased 0.4 percentage point year on year.
The surge in revenue is attributed to the outstanding performance of the company's core businesses, which, including metallic mineral and engineering contracting, were consolidated after the reorganization of CMC and the China Metallurgical Group Corporation in the past three years, CMC said.
At present, CMC's major metal resources reserve is ranked top in the world, with 30.42 million metric tons (tonnes) of copper, 12.70 million tonnes of zinc and 1.65 million tonnes of tungsten ore. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
