The number of passengers handled at Frankfurt Airport last year was higher than ever before. The airport operator, Fraport, handled more than 69.5 million passengers in total, a 7.8 percent increase on 2017, the company announced in Frankfurt. In August Fraport CEO Stefan Schulte had already raised his forecast to more than 69 million passengers. Now it is clear that the growth in numbers was even more pronounced.
According to the company, the growth was attributable both to new destinations and to an increase in the frequency of flights offered by the airlines. In Frankfurt, Fraport managed to achieve the largest absolute growth in its history, CEO Schulte said.
