BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Construction on the third ring highway project in Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia built by Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) kicked off on January 14.
With a total length of 47.6 km, the project is scheduled to be completed within 42 months.
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen made remarks at the opening ceremony that Cambodia has built bridges and highways covering thousands of kilometers under the support of Chinese government, which not only broke through Cambodia's domestic transportation network, bu also helped the country connect with the neighbouring countries.
Wang Wentian, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia said that the project will boost the economic development of districts along the route, and drive the development of investment and tourism in the capital city.
