BEIJING, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region plans to increase investment in energy facility construction to make full use of its rich resources, said Shohrat Zakir, chairman of the Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at a local meeting Monday.
Xinjiang seeks high-quality development in its dominating energy industry and aims to increase efficient investment in critical and weak sectors to sustain the momentum of economic development in 2019.
The region will focus on construction of the following projects including but not limited to Zhundong new energy base project, Kashigar-Yarkant and Yarkant-Hotan 750 kV transmission and transformation projects, rural power grid upgrading and transformation projects, natural gas storage projects, as well as exploitation of major oilfields led by PetroChina and Sinopec.
