BEIJING, Jan.14 (Xinhua) -- Lenovo Group, the world's largest personal computer maker, ranked top in the global PC market in 2018, according to a report released by consultancy Gartner last Friday.
In 2018, Lenovo took up a 22.5 percent share of global PC market, higher than the share of 20.8 percent in 2017, with shipments falling 1.3 percent year-on-year to 58.467 million units.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, Lenovo's PC shipments went up 5.9 percent to 16.628 million units and its market share worldwide raised to 24.2 percent.
Main competitors of Lenovo, such as HP and Dell held a share of 21.7 percent and 16.2 percent in the global PC market in 2018, respectively.
Global PC shipments fell 1.3 percent year-on-year to 259.4 million units in 2018, analysts attribute the fall to CPU shortage, noting that the impact of insufficient capacity of CPU on PC shipments is expected to continue in 2019, said Gartner's senior principal analyst Mikako Kitagawa.
