BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing are expected to cover 90 percent of enterprises in China by 2025 on accelerating digitalization in the country’s manufacturing sector, industrial insiders predicted at 2019 New Economy Think Tank Summit.
Ma Mingjie, director-general of the Research Department of Innovation Development at the Development Research Center of the State Council pointed out that digitalization is one of the most important factors for China's economic transformation and upgrading, which will bring about quality improvement, cost reduction and product innovation.
In 2019, China plans to offer greater policy support for digitalization in manufacturing, according to the latest working conference of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Projects involved in intelligent manufacturing will be further prioritized, and national standards for this area will be soon published, said the MIIT.
As of September, 2018, 67.8 percent of Chinese enterprises possessed digital R&D tools, 48.5 percent achieved numerical control of key manufacturing processes, and one-third realized network collaboration, according to the latest statistics released by MIIT.
