BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said the country may resume the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project but on a smaller scale if China agrees to do so, reported the Singapore-based Lianhe Zaobao.
This is the first time that he shows intention to continue the project through downsizing it.
Malaysia and China are still in talks on the matter and have yet to reach a good solution, with no deadline being set for the talks, Mahathir said in an interview with Sin Chew Daily on January 2, 2019,
Malaysian government is working to ensure that the country will not spend much money while China will not suffer a loss, the Prime Minister added. (Edited by Su Dan)
