BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) of China will take measures to make China’s western regions open wider to the world, as well as support them to take advantages of pilot free trade zones for opening up and continue to participate in the Belt and Road construction, MOC spokesperson Gao Feng said on last Thursday in a press conference.
The ministry will also encourage foreign investment to flow into western regions, reported the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.
China's western regions have gradually come to the front-line of opening up along with the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, said Gao Feng.
Data showed that the regions’ actual use of foreign investment in U.S. dollar terms increased by 19.9 percent year on year during January to November of 2018. (Edited by Su Dan, Niu Huizhe)
