A funding program launched in the summer to support SMEs and tradespeople in the digitalization process is meeting with strong demand. About 100 applications for financial support for projects have been submitted, Valentina Kerst, the deputy minister for economic affairs in the eastern state of Thuringia, said. Speaking in the state capital, Erfurt, she said 65 applications for the "Digitalbonus Thuringia" program have already been approved, meaning that companies will receive subsidies amounting to around 800,000 euros. They wanted to invest almost 2 million euros in their projects.
"Investments are being made in IT technology and databases, but also in Internet security and 3D printing," she said. According to Kerst, the 32 applications currently being considered involve grants of 344,000 euros. They are being processed by the Thuringia Development Bank.
