BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) – China's total digital economy is estimated to hit 16 trillion yuan in value in the first half of 2018, contributing 38.2 percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), reported China News Service on Wednesday quoting experts.
The above calculation was made by experts from China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a scientific research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China.
China's digital industrialization and industrial digitalization, constituents of the digital economy, valued 3.15 trillion yuan and 12.85 trillion yuan in the first half of 2018, accounting for 7.5 percent and 30.7 percent of China's national GDP, respectively, according to Lu Chuncong, head of the Policy and Economic Research Institute at CAICT.
Lu pointed out that China's digital economy still faces the problem of imbalanced and insufficient development.
Besides, the digital transformation of the whole industry and value chains from input to output of enterprises should be fostered with the digitalization of elements, process and products as a priority, so as to quicken the industrial digital transformation, stressed Lu. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
