BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has so far unveiled the adjusted lists of the steelmakers qualified for the industry standards in two batches, bringing the total number down to 256 from 304.
In order to strengthen standard management of the domestic steel industry, the MIIT released rules in 2015 to launch the dynamic management of the list of the qualified steel enterprises.
Steel enterprises in the list shall meet requirements in five aspects including product quality, process and equipment, environmental protection, energy consumption and comprehensive utilization of resources, and safety production, occupational health and social responsibility.
According to the MIIT, 12 steel enterprises will be included in the list as they completed the tasks of eliminating outdated capacities or merged other qualified steel enterprises.
A total of 17 steel enterprises are requested to implement rectification as they failed to meet requirements in the environmental protection or elimination of outdated capacities, said the ministry. (Edited by Li Wenxin, Hu Pingchao, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
