BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- A master plan for environmental governance of Baiyangdian Lake of Xiongan New Area is expected to come out soon, the China Securities Journal reported on Monday.

According to a master plan for Xiongan New Area approved by the Chinese authorities in April this year, 70 percent of Xiongan New Area will be covered with water or trees.

Experts point out high standards will be adopted in the master plan for environmental governance of Baiyangdian Lake, with the aim to achieve the goal of Class III surface water for the Lake in the future.

Comprehensive treatment measures will be taken for the Baiyangdian Lake, such as pollution control, dredging, water replenishment and relocation to comprehensively improve the water quality in the lake.

The ecological restoration and treatment planning for Baiyangdian focuses mainly on the governance. By 2035, a benign ecosystem of Baiyangdian will be basically restored, with the water quality reaching Class III-IV standards and the significant improvement in air quality, said Wang Jinnan, head of the Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning (CAEP).
