China's Seraphim to supply modules to Australia's largest smart solar farm -- Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co. Ltd. ("Seraphim"), a world-class solar product manufacturer in China, recently announced that it will supply state-of-the-art smart modules to a 9MW PV plant project in Australia. Located 95 km west of Moree, New South Wales, the plant developed by the Kanowna Solar PL is expected to utilize 27,500 units of 325W Seraphim MX Modules with integrated cell string-level Maxim optimizers. Construction will start on the plant in early 2019.

New air route links Xi'an, Madrid -- China Eastern Airlines on December 11 opened a direct flight between Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and Madrid. The route will be operated by an Airbus 330 twice a week. The outbound flight MU263 departs Xi'an at 3:05 p.m. Beijing time every Tuesday and Saturday and the return flight MU264 departs Madrid at 9:55 p.m. local time for Xi'an every Wednesday and Sunday. A one-way trip takes about 11 hours.

Tencent's WeChat payment expands presence in ROK's Jeju Province -- Chinese internet titan Tencent Holdings Ltd. (00700.HK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province in the Republic of Korea (ROK) on December 10 to promote WeChat payment. Tencent said the cooperation will accelerate the digital upgrading of local industries and enhance the experience of Chinese tourists in Jeju. According to the agreement, Tencent will also counsel Jeju Province on its smart city construction and enhance the local capacity in digital construction by promoting local IT enterprises to participate in the digital construction.

Chinese firm offers 4.6 bln euros to purchase parent company of Wilson -- China's Anta Sports announced on December 7 that it has joined other parties to form an investor consortium to acquire all shares of Amer Sports, a Finnish sportswear group. The announcement said Anta, as well as FountainVest Partners, Tencent and Anamered Investments offered 40 euros (45.5 U.S. dollars) a share for Amer Sports, one of the world's biggest sports equipment firms that owns popular brands such as Wilson, Arc'teryx, Salomon and Atomic. The total bid will be about 4.6 billion euros. The final pending transaction conditions are waiting to be met.

Chinese firm introduces smartphone to Kenyan market -- Chinese telecom firm, Huawei Mobile Kenya on December 10 introduced its latest smartphone, Huawei Y5 Lite phone, to the Kenyan market. Steven Li, Head of Eastern Africa Mobile said the device is a 4G enabled budget phone that will be retailing at 9,990 shillings (98 U.S. dollars) in retail stores across the country, operator shops and Jumia online stores.
