BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is of great economic value to Pakistan, which is expected to help it achieve stable development, according to Cheng Xizhong, a senior fellow of Chahar Institute, a private think-tank in China.
CPEC is a major program developed jointly by China and Pakistan. Most of the 22 major projects under the CPEC are in the fields of electricity and transportation infrastructure, which are crucial to social and economic development of Pakistan, Cheng added.
The construction of the economic corridor is expected to help Pakistan to gradually gain the capacity to develop industries and promote the development of modern service industries. Thus it will help Pakistan to realize industrialization and modernization.
He also thinks highly of the investment value of CPEC, which has been identified by an increasing number of countries.
Recently, Saudi Arabia has decided to invest in the CPEC and the Republic of Korea has also expressed the intention to participate in the CPEC construction.
