BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's Zhejiang Province recently introduced 50 new measures on accelerating provincial-level scientific and technological innovation at a press conference on Monday.
As major tasks, the province will promote the development of high-tech enterprises and establish more high-tech platforms, focusing specially on "Internet plus" and life science, said Gao Yingzhong, director of the provincial Science and Technology Department.
The province will establish a special fund for digital economy, jointly with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and prioritize the implementation of projects on digital economy and life science, said Gao.
In addition, the province will establish digital technology innovation centers and biomedicine R&D centers with global influence, as fixed the policies.
In the next five years, the provincial, municipal and county-level governments in Zhejiang will spend a total of 120 billion yuan (around 17.3 billion U.S. dollars) on achieving the goal, according to Gao.
"We will also guide social capital and financial institutions to invest around 290 billion yuan," said Gao, "The total investment on research and development (R&D) is expected to reach around 900 billion yuan." (Edited by Li Wenxin, Yang Qi, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
