BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train transported 6.61 billion yuan (about 960 million U.S. dollars) worth of goods from January to October, marking a year-on-year increase of 93.6 percent, according to statistics released by Yiwu Customs in China's Zhejiang Province.
Of the total, exports were 5.37 billion yuan, up 97.9 percent year on year; imports were 1.24 billion yuan, up 76.8 percent year on year.
Since its first trip started between China's Yiwu and Spain's Madrid on November 18, 2014, the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train has transported 5.05 million TEUs. So far nine freight routes have been launched from Yiwu to Madrid, London, Prague, Riga and cities in Russia and central Asia. (Edited by Li Wenxin, Yang Qi, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
