BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- In recent years, Lincang, major city in southwest China’s Yunnan province has actively got involved in the country’s Belt and Road Initiative, and strengthened the cooperation and development in economic and trade with Myanmar.
In 2017, Lincang city saw its foreign trade with Myanmar increase 15 percent year on year to reach 5.27 billion yuan. At present, a total of 33 Lincang-funded enterprises have invested into northern Myanmar. Among them, 22 enterprises injected a total of 84.20 million U.S.dollars into Myanmar.
Meanwhile, altogether 20 Myanmar-based enterprises invested in Lincang with 507 million yuan in total, mainly engaged in the fields of planting, service, processing sectors. The city's 64 foreign-funded enterprises have invested a total of 319 million U.S. dollars in planting, production, processing, hydropower development, culture, commerce and other industries.
Meanwhile, Lincang city continued to expand cooperation and assistance to agriculture, education, culture, health, disaster relief and other project in Myanmar, and organized donations of disaster relief cash, materials, office equipment, medical equipment, medicines and greening seedlings worth 4.08 million yuan to Myanmar.
