BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) – The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) inaugurated the Central Asian Center of Drug Discovery and Development in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent on November 23, in a bid to foster science and technology cooperation between China and Central Asia.
The center, an important project of the CAS Programs for Deepening S&T Cooperation with Developing Countries Package and one of the nine overseas S&T institutions built by CAS, focuses on the R&D of natural product drugs with regional characteristics of Central Asia.
CAS's president Bai Chunli noted that the center will serve as an important platform for S&T cooperation between China and Uzbekistan as well as countries along the Belt and Road routes, promoting scientific exchanges, resource sharing and talents cultivation in the research of Central Asia's pharmaceutical plant resources and sustainable development.
