BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- New energy power generation in northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has reached 101.6 billion kwh as of the end of this October since the region’s first wind power farm came into use in 2003, according to State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Co., Ltd.
Ningxia’s new energy installed capacity reached 17.98 million kw by the end of October, accounting for 41.6 percent in the region’s total power installed capacity, ranking the seventh and the third, respectively, in the country.
The region now boasts eight large scale solar PV and wind power industrial cluster and becomes an important base in China for advancing green energy utilization.
It is noted that Ningxia has more than 12 million kw of wind energy resource reserves suitable for wind power development, and more than 17 million kw of solar energy reserves suitable for photovoltaic development. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
