BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) – A forum on economic and trade cooperation was held jointly by Yiwu municipal government of east China's Zhejiang Province and Madrid city government of Spain on Monday in Spain's capital Madrid, aiming at exploring new potential for Chinese and western cooperation.
The forum focused on such topics as China-Spain investment and development opportunities as well as cooperation opportunities brought by the Yiwu-Madrid train line.
Fu Chunming, Deputy secretary of the standing committee of the Municipal People's Congress of Yiwu, said that since the opening of the Yiwu-Madrid train line in 2014, the imports and exports between Yiwu and Spain are developing fast, boosting the economic development of both sides.
Spain is very supportive to the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative, and there is broad cooperation space on third-party markets for Chinese and Spanish enterprises, noted Alicia Tamames, Director of the Asian Office of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX).
Entrepreneur representatives from Spain and representatives of small commodity markets from Yiwu introduced the investment environment of the two sides at the forum so as to find more space for economic and trade cooperation. Direct dialogues were also held for import and export companies of the two sides to negotiate cooperation. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
