Construction on China-Myanmar border economic cooperation zone begins -- Work on establishing an economic cooperation zone along the Myanmar-China border has started with the priority given to the Muse (Myanmar)-Ruili (China) section, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Nov. 13.Construction will start first on the Muse-Ruili section with the two sides erecting fences respectively, said Deputy Minister of Commerce U Aung Htoo, who is also secretary of the Central Committee to Implement the Myanmar-China Border Economic Cooperation Zone. Government officials from the two sides will continue to hold discussions on the establishment at a border trade expo due to take place in Muse in mid-December with business-to-business talks to be conducted, the newspaper quoted an official of the Commerce Ministry as saying.
Africa's longest suspension bridge opens to traffic in Mozambique -- The longest suspension bridge in Africa, the cross-sea Maputo Bay Bridge with its link roads in Mozambique, was officially open to traffic here on Nov. 10.The three-kilometer twin-tower suspension bridge extends with a main span of 680 meters over the Maputo Bay of the Indian Ocean. The bridge is part of the Maputo Bridge and Link Roads project built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation, with Chinese financing and standards. Speaking at the inauguration, President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi said that the project will facilitate transport and connectivity between the country with other parts of the African continent.
84 new wells in Tarim oilfield provide energy support for natural gas projects -- 84 new wells put into operation this year in Tarim oilfield of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have provided energy support for the west-east natural gas transmission project, with a combined daily output of 1,921 metric tons (tonnes) of oil and 2.6318 million cubic meters of natural gas. Tarim oilfield currently has seven gas fields serving as the main gas sources for the west-east natural gas transmission project, with an annual gas supply capacity of 25 billion cubic meters, benefiting nearly 400 million residents in 15 provinces and cities along the route. According to CNPC's plan, by 2020, Tarim oilfield will be built into a world-class oil and gas field with an annual oil and gas output hitting 30 million tonnes of oil equivalent.
Chinese company completes substation expansion project in Poland -- The expansion and renovation project of the Kozienice substation in Poland, which was built by Chinese Pinggao Group Co., Ltd., was recently completed in eastern Polish city of Kozienice. The project is the first power transmission and transmission general contracting project completed by a Chinese company in European Union (EU) countries. As the second largest substation in Poland, the Kozienice substation provides half power supply for the country’s capital, Wasaw. In 2014, Pinggao Group and Poland's national transmission system operator Polskie Sieci Elektronergetyczne SA (PSE) signed the contract for the expansion and renovation project of the Kozienice substation with a value of 252 million yuan, and it’s completed after four years of construction.
China, Myanmar sign framework agreement on Kyauk Phyu SEZ deep-sea port project -- Myanmar and China's CITIC Group on Thursday signed a framework agreement on the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Deep-Sea Port Project. The framework agreement was signed by Myanmar's Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance and Chairperson of the Management Committee of the Kyaukphyu SEZ U Set Aung and President of CITIC Group Chang Zhenming. The Kyauk Phyu SEZ is part of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, and the project will benefit the people of Myanmar and promote the China-Myanmar paukphaw (fraternal) friendship, said Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang.
China develops first deepwater self-operated gas field -- China's first deepwater self-operated gas field, Lingshui 17-2 gas field, has officially entered the stage of development and construction, according to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on Nov. 12. After the completion, the Lingshui 17-2 gas field is expected to annually produce about 3 billion to 3.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas which will be supplied to Hong Kong, Guangdong and Hainan. After the project is completed and put into production, the condensate oil produced in the gas field will be stored in the deepwater semi-submersible platform and transported through the tankers. The natural gas will be transported through the sea pipelines.
2 consortiums tender for Thailand's eastern rail project -- Two consortiums on Monday submitted bidding documents for the State Railways of Thailand's (SRT) high-speed rail project designed to link major airports and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project. The two bidders were BSR Joint Venture and a Charoen Pokphand-led Joint Venture, according to acting SRT governor Worawut Mala. The project is designed to build the 220-km-long high-speed rail to link three major airports, namely Don Mueang airport on the northern suburb of Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi airport on the eastern outskirts of Bangkok and U-tapao airport in Rayong province, and the EEC project sites located in the eastern provinces of Chachoensao, Chonburi and Rayong. The construction contract for the rail project will be signed between the SRT and a winning bidder by the end of the upcoming January, Worawut said.
