BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Smashing over 10 billion yuan in just two minutes and numerous international brands selling out in a flash, China's online shoppers have redefined the worldwide shopping binge in numbers as Alibaba's Single's Day entered into its 10th year.

On Sunday, the shopping bonanza's sales beat a record high at 213.5 billion yuan, 4,100 times more than the first shopping binge when sales were only slightly over 50 million.

This year's sales nearly tripled that of Cyber Monday and Black Friday in 2017, Adobe data showed.

In two minutes and five seconds, this year's sales reached 10 billion. Last year, it took 24 hours to hit 168.2 billion yuan, but for 2018, 15 hours and 49 minutes were enough to shatter the record.

About 180,000 brands from home and abroad participated in the spree compared with 27 brands in 2009.

Some 237 brands saw their sales revenue surpassing 100 million this year, 70 more than that last year.

Sales on other Chinese e-commerce giants, including JD.com and Suning, also hit new highs.

Accumulative sales on JD.com surged to 159.8 billion yuan during its shopping promotion festival this year, and Suning said its online and offline business grew 132 percent year on year.

More than 1.35 billion parcels were generated during the shopping frenzy on major e-commerce platforms, data from China's State Post Bureau showed.
