BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's first deepwater self-operated gas field, Lingshui 17-2 gas field, has officially entered the stage of development and construction, according to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on Monday.
After the completion, the Lingshui 17-2 gas field is expected to annually produce about 3 billion to 3.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas which will be supplied to Hong Kong, Guangdong and Hainan.
After the project is completed and put into production, the condensate oil produced in the gas field will be stored in the deepwater semi-submersible platform and transported through the tankers. The natural gas will be transported through the sea pipelines.
Industry insiders believed that the development and construction of the Lingshui 17-2 gas field will help increase the supply of clean natural gas, improve China's ecological environment, and optimize its energy structure. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
