BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- China will strengthen R&D of key technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of things (IoT) and strive to build an advanced industrial backbone internet network, according to the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily on Friday.
The Internet has been rapidly shifting from the consumption sector to production sector and from virtual economy to real economy. Embracing the industrial internet will help grasp the new round of scientific and technological revolution and seize industrial transformation opportunities, said Chen Zhaoxiong, vice minister of Industry and Information Technology of China at a forum of the 5th World Internet Conference.
Industrial internet is an important foundation of the new industrial revolution and the Internet plus advanced manufacturing industry, noted Gao Xiang, deputy director of Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued an action plan to accelerate the construction of industrial internet from 2018 to 2020, helping promote rapid development of the industrial Internet industry.
Later, local authorities also released policies to support development of the industrial Internet and introduced a series of measures such as establishment of demonstration zones and measures to promote in-depth integration of Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence with the real economy.
