With the boom of cross-border e-commerce, Changchun has developed into one of the key node cities in China's cross-border e-commerce network. In the first 11 months of 2017, 63 flights cleared customs here with 12.454 million postal parcels worth 456.3 million yuan, accoridng to data released by the Customs of Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone.
To ensure the normal operation of Changchun-Manzhouli-Europe International freight rail line, the Customs has opened a dedicted window to improve clearance efficiency and assisted Changchun to integrate deeper into the Belt and Road Initiative while speeding up outbound economic development.
During the first 11 months of 2017, goods imports and exports via Changchun-Manzhouli-Europe freight train totaled 26,252 TEUs, weighing 207,000 tons and with value reaching 6.374 billion yuan, up 24 times, 27 times and 22 times compared with same period a year ago. Total imports and exports totaled 28,000 TEUs since the two-way operation of the line started in August of 2015, worth 7.08 billion yuan and weighing 227,000 tonnes.
Coming into service on December 26, 1997, the Customs of Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone is responsible for supervising all customs clearance affairs of Changchun except air freight and mail transportation, according to a source with the Customs. Over the past twenty years, the Customs has received a total of 143,000 customs declarations, supervised 1.27 million tonnes of imports and exports worth 958,000 yuan, handled tax relief and reduction of 366 million yuan and levied tax totaling 12.76 billion yuan.
