PowerChina International signs EPC contract for Kayan I hydropower station -- PowerChina International Group Ltd. said on its official website that it has recently signed an EPC contract with PT. Kayan Hydro Energy in Jakarta, Indonesia to build the Kayan I hydropower station.The cascade hydropower station is located in Kalimantan Utara Province, Indonesia, and the first stage is installed with 900MW power generation capacity. It’s expected to become the second largest hydropower station in Indonesia following Cirata hydropower station.

Pakistan Coal-power project nears completion -- The first phase of a crucial energy project in Pakistan is scheduled to be put into operation next year, benefiting 2 million local people, according to its building contractor, China Machinery Engineering Corp.The Pakistan Thar Mining and Power Project, whose construction started in April 2016 and is planned to be completed in October 2019, is the first coal and power integration project for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and is thus of great political and economic significance to both countries, industry insiders said.Involving more than 2 billion U.S. dollars in investment, the project was signed in 2014. Chinese and Pakistani consortium banks led by China Development Bank and Habib Bank joined the deal after inking a series of financing agreements. (Source: China Daily)

Boeing Zhoushan project to deliver first airplane in December -- Boeing's 737 Completion and Delivery Center in Zhoushan, a coastal city in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, will deliver its first plane in 737 family in December, said Boeing China on Nov.2.The newly-completed 737 airplane will be delivered to Air China.The Boeing Zhoushan project is made up of two parts -- a Boeing 737 completion center and the delivery center, in which the Boeing 737 aircraft will receive interior installation, painting, maintenance and delivery.Boeing and its Chinese partner Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd.(COMAC) will jointly run the completion center, with the 737 delivery center being solely owned by Boeing.

China's electronic giant to construct technology park in India -- Midea Group, Chinese electrical appliance manufacturing company, has started construction of a Science and Technology Park in western India.The Chinese consumer appliances maker said on Nov. 5 that it will invest 184.63 million U.S. over the next five years in Ahmednagar in western Maharashtra state to set up a technology park. The park is expected to start function from 2020, and is looking forward to producing 500,000 refrigerators, washing machines, water purifiers and water heaters, 1.5 million household air conditioners, 250,000 commercial air conditioners and 4.5 million air conditioner compressors every year.

Universal to start work on theme park in Beijing by year end -- The Universal Studios Beijing will start construction work on its theme park located in the eastern suburb of Tongzhou district by the end of this year, local authority announced on Nov. 5. According to Beijing Daily report, the 1,000-acre project announced by Universal will include a theme park, shopping center and hotels. To support the development of the park, work on municipal facilities with a total investment of 53 billion yuan (7.6 billion U.S. dollars) including 129 projects began in 2016. In the last two years, work on 66 projects has already started. Fifty projects will start construction this year and the rest 13 will start in the following two years. (Source: China Daily)

137 projects worth 21.9 bln USD signed through China-Singapore program -- Altogether 137 cooperative projects worth 21.9 billion U.S. dollars have been signed through a China-Singapore inter-government program over the past three years. This was revealed at a press conference for the third anniversary of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) demonstration initiative on strategic connectivity held on Nov. 7 in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality. The initiative was launched in November 2015, aiming to pilot cooperation in fields including financial services, aviation, logistics and communications. Western provinces and cities including Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi have raised more than 5.15 billion U.S. dollars in 62 cross-border financial deals so far.

Chinese-built modern trains carry 2 mln passengers amid improved service in Kenya -- Kenya's Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) commuter trains have ferried more than two million passengers between Nairobi and the port city of Mombasa since its launch in May last year, the operator confirmed on Wednesday. "By Oct. 28, 2,013,000 passengers enjoyed passenger train service since launching. We have also achieved a seating occupancy at 97.2 percent (including inter-county seats reuse)," said Li Jianfeng, deputy general manager of SGR passenger train operator, Africa Star Railway Operation Company Limited. Li said the SGR freight service has ferried about 2,605,000 tonnes of bulk cargo since its launch, hence easing congestion at the port of Mombasa. The SGR commuter train dubbed Madaraka Express has revolutionized travel while stimulating commerce along the 480 kilometers railway built by a Chinese company.
