BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Transport and Housing Bureau of Hong Kong and Southwest China's Sichuan province on Wednesday signed a framework agreement to promote logistics channel construction and improve logistics business development between Hong Kong and Sichuan.
Hong Kong is a regional logistics hub which can provide Sichuan with more transshipment services and bring goods to the international market. Hong Kong manufacturers can expand their production lines to Sichuan and use Sichuan's logistics channel to explore the markets in the countries along Belt and Road routes, said Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, chief executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Sichuan will cooperate with Hong Kong in transportation infrastructure, logistics park construction and professional services, and learn from Hong Kong's experience as an international shipping center and logistics center to develop its logistics industry, said Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee.
Hong Kong has always been an important trade partner of Sichuan and the fourth largest export destination of Sichuan. In 2017, total value of goods exported from Sichuan to Hong Kong reached 19 billion yuan.
