BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 80 institutions have become partners of the International Coalition for Green Development on the Belt and Road, as learned from the 2018 Annual General Meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), held in Beijing from November 1 to 3.
Jointly initiated by China and the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), the coalition aims to facilitate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through the green construction of Belt and Road.
UN Environment Executive Director Erik Solheim said that China's successful experience in green development can be shared with other countries through dialogue and exchange, which is also the significance of the coalition.
According to Solheim, the coalition will play an important role in promoting green finance and helping countries along the B&R routes to achieve green development. (Edited by Li Wenxin, Yang Qi, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
