BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) in the Belt and Road Region was officially established in Beijing on November 4.
The establishment of the ANSO was jointly initiated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), science and education institutions from over 40 countries or regions and relevant international organizations.
ANSO is the first comprehensive international science and technology organization jointly initiated by scientific research institutions of countries and international organizations along the Belt and Road routes under the framework of the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative, according to Bai Chunli, president of CAS.
Chinese vice premier Liu He attended the inauguration ceremony of ANSO and noted that scientific and technological cooperation is a focus of the B&R Initiative, and ANSO can and should make a big difference through close cooperation and joint efforts of science and education institutions of different countries and international organizations.
