BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and Guangdong Provincial Government on Monday signed a strategic agreement to accelerate construction of a group of world-class airports in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Under the agreement, in terms of the top-level design, the CAAC will actively support and help Guangdong to formulate a high-quality and high-standard development plan for the world-class airport group in the Greater Bay Area, and promote Guangdong to build an airport group jointly with Hong Kong and Macao and achieve resource sharing and coordinated development.
Meanwhile, efforts will be made to enhance competitiveness of the international aviation hubs of Guangzhou and Shenzhen airports, further improve the infrastructure of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and its air route network, and enhance the international transit function.
The country will further deepen the civil aviation cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and promote their pragmatic cooperation in supporting facilities, airport operations management, aviation logistics, general aviation, aviation maintenance, etc., to achieve interconnection.
In addition, a number of general airports in Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing will be deployed to support development of the general aviation, said the agreement. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
