SHANGHAI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency, signed an agreement with the Italian financial media giant Class Editori S.p.A. to jointly launch the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road in Shanghai on Tuesday.
The signing ceremony took place at the fifth meeting of the China-Italy Business Forum, one of the supporting activities of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Based on the original English-language Xinhua Silk Road platform, the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road will give full play to Xinhua News Agency's advantages in information gathering and releasing and Class Editori's advantages in financial information distribution channels in Italy to deepen cooperation between the two countries, and provide all-round services catering to the specific needs of Chinese and Italian enterprises.
In addition to the launch of the Xinhua Silk Road Italian version, CEIS and Class Editori will explore more cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in multiple fields, including investment contacts, transaction matching, personnel training, product promotion, etc.
Vice Minister of Commerce of China Wang Shouwen highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Italian government in promoting cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, finance and third-party markets. He mentioned that China and Italy have strong economic complementarities and share many interests. The series of measures of Chinese government for further opening up is expected to create new opportunities for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
Li Yue, Assistant President of CEIS and General Manager of Xinhua Silk Road, said that the two sides will make joint effort in construction of the Xinhua Silk Road Italian version platform. By providing high-quality and accurate information services, it will become a bridge for communication between Chinese and Italian companies, and promote pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Since China and Italy established diplomatic ties in November 1970, the bilateral trade between the two countries has been developing steadily and two-way investment has been growing rapidly. Such exchanges and cooperation have been further accelerated with the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Currently, Italy is China's fifth largest trading partner in EU, while China is Italy's largest trading partner in Asia. In 2017, the bilateral trade volume amounted to 49.6billion U. S. dollars, up 15.1 percent year-on-year. Italian people are gaining better understanding about the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Italian business circles are eager to promote all-round interaction with China through pragmatic cooperation.
CEIS and Class Editori have secured a concrete long-term relationship to better provide Belt and Road economic information services for Italian SME users. In June 2018, both sides announced the plan to introduce the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road during a promotion and business matchmaking event held in Milan, Italy.
As one of the supporting activities of the first CIIE, the fifth meeting of the China-Italy Business Forum is organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. Bank of China Limited also signed memorandums with SACE and Leonardo S.pA. (Edited by Wu Shuang, wushuang2018@xinhua.org)
