BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province has recently introduced 20 measures to expand imports, according to the province’s Department of Commerce on Monday.

The province will take measures to optimize the structure of imported goods, actively cultivate import entities, and promote the construction of platform carriers and the trade facilitation, said the department.

Jiangsu will encourage imports of the urgently needed medicines, medical equipment and rehabilitation, and aged care equipment, and support construction of the import commodity exhibition centers.

Meanwhile, the province will support eligible air ports to apply for the establishment of inbound duty-free shops.

Jiangsu will also expand imports of production services such as architectural design, trade logistics, consulting services, R&D and design, energy conservation and environmental protection, and environmental services, so as to promote development of Jiangsu's strategic emerging industries and advanced manufacturing industries and enable the domestic customers to enjoy high-quality foreign services.

In addition, the province will support construction of the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones in Suzhou, Nanjing and Wuxi, to accelerate the development of cross-border e-commerce retail import business. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
