BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's methanol-fueled vehicles are to step into promotion and application stage, according to the guidance to be released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Xinua-run cnstock.com reported on Monday.
The MIIT will primarily support and guide the promotion of the methanol vehicles in pilot areas of some provinces, such as Shaanxi, Guizhou, Gansu and Shanxi.
To better evaluate the comprehensive functions of methanol vehicles, the MIIT has already piloted the promotion of the methanol vehicles in ten cities since 2012, which has received remarkable results, according to MIIT.
It is noted that MIIT will actively support the promotion and application of heavy methanol vehicles in the future, expand the range of using the heavy methanol vehicle, and speed up the technology development of the methanol fuel engines, according to official.
China's production capaticy of methanol has totaled 85.20 million metric tons (tonnes) as of the end of 2017, official data showed. (Edited by Jiang Feifan, Hu Pingchao)
