The Ifo Institute expects jobs growth to continue in Bavaria in the coming years, despite digitalization.
Employment in Bavaria is expected to grow by between 2 and 14 percent by 2030. For the whole of Germany, however, employment could either shrink or grow by up to 6 percent, the Munich-based economic research institute announced on Monday.
The researchers expect the biggest jobs growth to be in management, engineering and IT as well as in nursing. There will be fewer jobs in the financial and construction sectors.
In addition to highly qualified occupations, an above-average number of jobs will also be created in the unskilled, low-paid service sector: "Both are difficult to automate," the Ifo researchers explained in their study, which was commissioned by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Munich and Upper Bavaria (IHK).
Peter Driessen, CEO of the IHK, said that Bavaria would "certainly seem to benefit in particular from digitalization, provided that companies find the specialists they need."
