BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Several world-renowned companies signed agreements on 12 big projects involving foreign investment of 23.2 billion yuan (about 3.36 billion U.S. dollars) with the Shanghai Municipal People's Government on October 27.
These companies include General Motors, Decathlon, Omron, NU SKIN, Kao, LEGO and ASUS.
According to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Shanghai received 12.943 billion U.S. dollars of foreign investment in the first three quarters of 2018, up 2.1 percent year on year,
Among them, 4.553 billion U.S. dollars flowed to the business service industry with foreign-invested headquarters projects taking the lion's share, registering a year-on-year increase of 26 percent;1.355 billion U.S. dollars to the manufacturing industry, up 88 percent and accounting for 10.5 percent of the total foreign investment in Shanghai in the period.
Meanwhile, 5.034 billion U.S. dollars went to the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), growing by 16.8 percent year on year and accounting for 38.9 percent of the total foreign investment in Shanghai in the period. (Edited by Gu Shanshan, Zhang Yuan, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
