GUANGZHOU, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela on Friday opened a consulate general in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
It will be Venezuela's third consulate general in China, following one in Shanghai and another in Hong Kong.
The jurisdiction of the new consulate general will include Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
"This consulate will facilitate economic, commercial, social and cultural exchanges between our countries," said Hector Rodriguez, governor of Miranda State of Venezuela, at the opening ceremony of the consulate general.
Trade volume between Guangdong and Venezuela reached 1.94 billion yuan (281 million U.S. dollars) in 2017, an increase of 4.4 percent year on year.
