BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- China and Palestine officially announced on Tuesday to launch negotiations on the free trade agreement (FTA), according to China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on Wednesday.
The two sides agreed to step up negotiations and strive to reach an agreement as soon as possible, said the MOC.
In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between China and Palestine has achieved remarkable results, with the bilateral trade growing significantly.
In 2017, the bilateral trade volume between China and Palestine amounted to 69.28 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 16.2 percent.
In November, 2017, the two countries officially launched the joint feasibility study of the FTA.
The two sides believe that the signing of the FTA will further strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations and bring more benefits to the enterprises and people of the two countries, said the MOC. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
