BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The just-concluded 22nd Ningbo International Fashion Fair has pointed out the future development trend of textile and garment industry, stressing the focus on the smart manufacturing.
In the face of the new challenges, some experts suggested the textile and garment industry should shift focus to smart manufacturing and high-end products.
Some pointed out that the garment industry is steadily advancing the smart manufacturing with the industry-wide applications of high technologies. The enterprises should increase their talent cultivation and product innovation and build an innovation system.
As a traditional advantaged industry in Ningbo, the textile and garment industry has witnessed the booming development.
In 2017, the number of the coastal city's textile and apparel enterprises with main business revenue above 20 million yuan annually was 270 and they achieved the added value of 24.6 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4 percent year on year.
A total of 265 enterprises and more than 300 brands participated in the fair which was held from October 18 to 21.
This year, a number of overseas brands took the initiative to join the fair in an effort to explore the Chinese market. Among the 300-odd brands participating in the fair, the overseas brands and non-Ningbo brands accounted for 46 percent.
Since its launch in 1997, the Ningbo International Fashion Fair has attracted exhibitors from more than 100 countries, with more than 33,000 booths offered and the amount of direct transactions exceeding 100 billion yuan. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
