DHAKA, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's Rajshahi City Corporation has signed a friendship "Letter of Intent (LoI)" with the China's Yiyang city in the Bangladesh's capital city Dhaka on Friday.
The document "Letter of intent on the establishment of the friendship relationship between the Yiyang city, province of Hunan People's Republic of China and Rajshahi city corporation, Rajshahi, the People's Republic of Bangladesh " is aimed at promoting mutual understanding and friendship among the Bangladeshi and the Chinese people.
Zhang Zhiheng, mayor of Yiyang, and AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, mayor of Rajshahi (some 256 km west of Dhaka), signed the memorandum at a ceremony in Dhaka on behalf of their respective sides in the witness of Xu Dazhe the governor of Hunan Province, Fazle Hossain Badsha the Members of Parliament and other guest from both sides on Friday.
Under the LoI, both sides agreed to make concerted efforts on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. They also agreed to promote friendly people-to-people contacts, economic and trade interflow, exchange views and ideas, cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology as well as culture, sports, health, education, youth, administration, etc.
Before the signing ceremony, both sides held meeting to discuss and share the opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
